The name REBEL suggests that this hedgehog in a cage goes its own way. The first notable difference is the possibility of unscrewing it without disrupting the principle of the puzzle itself. One of the spikes can be unscrewed together with part of the sphere's shell, yet the mechanism remains fully functional.

The second unique feature is the size of the sphere and its inner cavity. REBEL pushes the boundaries to record heights – both in terms of overall diameter and usable interior space. For comparison: the ORIGINAL hedgehog in a cage, which has the largest sphere to date, has a diameter of 22.5 mm and an interior space of 17 mm. REBEL offers an impressive ball diameter of 30 mm and an internal diameter of 28 mm. The classic design requires more space for internal and external threads and to maintain strength. However, this new, ingenious design does not need this – it was first successfully tested on the oversized Max model.

Another big surprise is the Flying Wheel plan hidden inside – in an unprecedented A4 size (normally only A5).

"Eight years ago, a young man asked me if an engagement ring would fit inside the hedgehog's cavity, because he wanted to propose to his girlfriend in this way. Unfortunately, I had to disappoint him at the time. But maybe that sparked my idea to make such a Hedgehog. Now I could tell him that it would work, because several rings can fit into the cavity! The entrance diameter is 21 mm," adds Radek Micopulos, designer.

The third notable advantage is the more solid cage wall. Instead of the usual 2 mm, it is 3 mm thick, which gives the puzzle an exceptionally sturdy and solid character. The total weight is 276 g – a full 100 g more than the stainless steel ORIGINAL.

The materials used underscore the exclusivity of the design. The all-stainless steel cage is made from a single piece of material and complemented by brass plugs that emphasize the rounded shape and at the same time refer to the first Hedgehogs with brass joints. The chrome-plated ball is fitted with 12 stainless steel conical spikes with an enlarged base diameter of 6 mm, which further enhances its robust appearance.

The icing on the cake is the packaging. REBEL can be given as a real experience – it is stored in an original tin with a pull-off lid, similar to tins of nuts. The recipient has no idea what is inside until the very last moment. Upon opening, they will also discover a new drawstring bag with the embossed logo of the original Czech puzzle manufacturer RADEMIC PUZZLES. The torn-off lid bears the designer's signature, and the package also includes a replacement lid for normal closure.

REBEL is not just a puzzle. It is a solid piece of metal, technical courage, and a collector's experience all in one.
